SHANGHAI WOWCREATIVE HUNTFORBESWORLD ARCHITECTURE NEWS

Customers and passers-by can interact with the installation by posing in the window “Wearing” an oversized architectural “hat” and “dress” that animate the windows and facade of the shop. The curved feminine form of the exterior contrasts with the masculine triangular interior and reflects the notion of duality (ying-yang) in Chinese culture. The installation is part of the RIBA Shanghai Window Display Project 2014.

The 8 Cabinets: Xintiandi Style owners and developers SHUI ONLAND  has asked Mamou-Mani and Arup Associates to design 8 cabinets at the entrance of the mall to introduce some of the brands participating in the RIBA Window Project (Davidson Tsui, Moleskine, EIN, Tayohya).

Description of the Projects in Creative Hunt, Shanghai

“When XinTianDi invited thirteen Western architects – I was curious how these designers were briefed. […] Well, the RIBA Windows architects ended up getting it right. The installations were cheerful – Deborah Nagan’s Artificial for the Tayohya shop; or witty – Mamou-Mani and ARUP Associates’ Fitting Room for Davidson Tsui”  Cindy Kuan, Forbes.com
