About the Project

The Karen Millen Chinese New Year Lanterns is the direct continuation of the Christmas Window Display on Regent Street. We designed, fabricated and assembled 24 Red Lanterns for Karen Millen stores in Macau, Hong-Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Beijing.

The Miura-Ori Origami pattern was adapted to shape contemporary Chinese New Year Red Lanterns. A series of experiments were necessary to adapt the original pattern which formed saddle shaped geometry into a convex double curve surface.
