About the Project
Alvea is an eco-parametric interior design project for Dynamic Beta Investment (DBI)’s fintech hedge fund headquarters in New York. DBI is renowned for democratising access to sophisticated investment strategies through ETFs, using advanced algorithms to replicate the performance of leading hedge funds.
This resonates with us, as we also harness technology and complex algorithms to create our products. This 200-square-meter workspace is carefully reimagined to reflect DBI’s values, with a focus on both technological innovation and environmental responsibility.
The project seeks to create a beautiful, welcoming space for employees and clients. It features a central structure that brings a “wow factor” while serving as a soft partition, creating privacy within the workspace while remaining welcoming.
To achieve this design, we experimented with 3D printing on a mould, using PLA bioplastic to craft modular elements that are as sustainable as they are visually striking.
The Concept
Alvea’s concept focuses on crafting a harmonious workspace that blends openness, privacy, and eco-conscious design. The central structure, composed of modular, 3D-printed components using PLA (polylactic acid)—a bioplastic derived from fermented plant starch—was shaped on a mould to divide the office into distinct zones, promoting natural flow and light throughout the space.
This feature, inspired by the organic forms in our Cabanas and Aurora projects, serves as a multipurpose and meditative space for relaxation and client meetings. The higher side faces the workstations to provide privacy, while the lower side, facing the pantry, allows light to permeate the space and provides an open waiting area for guests. The goal was to create a workspace that is visually unique and practical for day-to-day business.
